Pigment Sticks are handmade using traditional materials. R&F Handmade Paints is proud to manufacture all of our unique colors at our facility in Kingston, New York. Each color is expertly formulated and milled in small batches. Colors are then molded into stick form offering extended versatility of use and application.

UNIQUE COLOR

Pigment Sticks are available in over 100 colors in three different sizes: 38ml, 100ml and 188ml. Each color is made by hand using traditional materials: natural wax, linseed oil, and pigment. Pigment Sticks have none of the additives, extenders or substitutes that are commonly used in industrial production. The result is an oil paint stick with a lipstick soft consistency and highly concentrated pigment. OIL PAINT IN STICK FORM

Pigment Sticks can be applied directly to a surface without the distancing factor of the brush. This makes it possible to dispense not only with the brush, but with knives, palettes and solvents, thereby making oil sticks more immediate and portable than standard oil painting materials. Pigment Sticks are formulated to be equal in quality to the finest oil paints.They are richly pigmented, with a lipstick soft consistency that gives them the same fluidity, subtlety and durability of traditional oil colors.

Pigment Stick Usage Tips

DRAW

R&F Pigment Sticks are becoming more prevalent as stand-alone painting and drawing tools. They are a wonderful bridge between drawing and painting and their very nature causes artists to loosen up, use more color and be spontaneous and gestural.

PAINT

R&F Pigment Sticks can be treated as regular tube oils or used them in combination with tube oils. Artists can work on any surface just as with oils. Use brushes, solvents and rags once the paint is on the surface. Some artists use R&F Pigment Sticks to start a painting with a quick sketch, others do their painting with brushes and put in final details with the sticks.
